Gay & Same-Sex Wedding FAQs
ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT GAY & SAME-SEX WEDDINGS IN MELBOURNE.
Can same-sex couples legally marry in Melbourne?
Can we personalise our gay wedding ceremony?
Of course! Your gay wedding ceremony should reflect your relationship, personalities and love story. From writing your own vows and choosing meaningful readings to involving your family or chosen family, we’ll create a ceremony that’s genuinely yours. Whether you prefer something romantic, relaxed, traditional or completely unconventional, the choice is yours.
Do you perform LGBTQIA+ weddings across Melbourne?
Yes! I provide personalised gay, same-sex and LGBTQIA+ wedding ceremonies throughout Melbourne and surrounding areas, subject to availability. Whether you’re planning an intimate city wedding, a garden ceremony or a celebration at your favourite Melbourne venue, I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
Can we have a same-sex elopement or intimate wedding?
Absolutely. Not every wedding needs a large guest list. Whether you’re planning a private same-sex elopement in Melbourne or an intimate ceremony surrounded by your closest family and friends, I’ll help create a meaningful celebration that reflects your relationship. For a legal marriage, you’ll still need two adult witnesses.
How far in advance should we book our Melbourne wedding celebrant?
It’s best to get in touch as soon as you’ve chosen your wedding date, particularly if you’re planning a weekend ceremony. Australian marriage law generally requires a Notice of Intended Marriage to be lodged at least one month before your wedding, although limited exceptions apply. Booking early gives us plenty of time to plan your ceremony and complete the necessary paperwork.
How do we book Robert for our gay wedding in Melbourne?
Simply get in touch through my contact page and tell me a little about yourselves, your preferred wedding date and the celebration you’re planning. We’ll start with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation to discuss your ideas, answer your questions and see how we can create a ceremony that celebrates your love story.
